Born and raised in the countryside of Porvoo, my passion is history and nature and I will show you some unique parts of Helsinki by foot with focus on parks and the green areas. The old town of Porvoo is the second oldest town in Finland and it is a gem with its cobbled stone narrow streets and small wooden houses. Seeing the town on foot is by far the best way to experience it. Having lived and worked nearly twenty five years abroad, I look at Finland with curious eyes and have a good perspective of the changes and innovations that have taken place during the last two decades. Mein Name ist Pia Saramo, bin aus Helsinki und habe and der Universität Helsinki mein Abschlussexamen gemacht. Ich liebe meine Heimatstadt und mache die Führungen entweder zu Fuss, mit dem Bus oder mit den öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln. Eine meiner Spezialitäten ist die vergleichende Erziehungswissenschaft und deshalb habe ich gute Kenntnisse über das Ausbildungssystem verschiedenen Ländern. Als junger Studentin hatte ich gleichzeitig mit den Studien als eine autorisierte Fremdenführerin vor über 40 Jahren gearbeitet. Danach ging es ins Ausland, nach Indien, Malaysia und letztendlich nach Bonn, Bad Godesberg. Vor einigen Jahren wollte ich meine Kenntnisse für den ehemaligen Job als autoriserter Guide wieder up-to-date machen und habe dann das ganze Berufsexamen für Guide gemacht. Ich wollte einfach meine Kenntnisse über verschiedene Themen vertiefern; dass heisst Architektur, vor allem die Jugendarchitektur mit der Finnischen Nationalromantischen Stil und die Wohnvierteln von Katajanokka und Eira, ich habe vile Perlen in meinen Taschen. Geschichte, politische Geschichte, Kriegsgeschichte, Design, Musik, und die schnelle Entwicklung unserer Haupstadt in einer kurzer Zeit vertiefern. Ich habe mich sehr gefreut "Alles" wieder zu lernen und weiter zu studieren. In diesem Job ist man nie fertigausgebildet! Ich habe ganz neue Interessen, die mich persönlich interessieren, wiedergefunden. Wahrscheinlich hat die Auslandsjahren ein neues Perspektiv dafür beigebracht. Ich mache die Führungen entsprechend von den Interessen der Gruppe. Ich würde sagen, daß ich die Finnische Kultur mit den Augen einen Ausländern sehen kann. Deshalb wird es je interessanter desto mehr man über die kommenden Gäste vorher weiß um ein unvergessliches Erlebnis anbieten zu können. Meine zwei Beispiele sind Folgendes: Wir spazieren in den Spuren von den Kaiserinnen in der Nähe von dem Senatsplatz, wo viele Straßen nach den Kaiserinnen während der russischen Zeit als Finnland ein autonomes Großfürstentum des russischen Reichs war, genannt sind. Wir besuchen die orthodoxe Uspenskikatedrale, die größte der westlichen Welt. Mein anderes Thema ist Finnland während des kalten Krieges. Das erste ESZ-Konferenz hat in Helsinki in 1975 stattgefunden. Es war der erste Schritt zum Ende des kalten Krieges. Ein Besuch im Kekkonenmuseum Tamminiemi ist möglich. Vor allem werde ich viele Anekdoten über Kekkonen und sein Leben erzählen. Lassen Sie mich wissen was Ihnen interessieren und ich werde einen entsprechenden Vorschlag machen. Ich bin der Meinung, daß man in diesem Beruf nie fertig ausgebildet wird und daß man die Einstellung "immer neugierig sein" haben sollte! I started my career as an authorized guide in över 40 years ago as a young student of the Uni of Helsinki and majored in the Science of Education. After having started a family and having lived abroad due to family duties and after being back in Helsinki I wanted to do the professional guide exam in order to be up-to-date as far as the formal education standard of a professional guide concerns, in 2013. I found myself having become more curious and interested in political history, the unique finnish architecture, design, pop up -events and the new Helsinki along with the old history, which still is my main task. The area around the Senate Square with its neoclassical buildings from the time when Finland used to be an autonomous Grand Duchy of the russian Empire 1809-1917 and the orthodoxy with a visit to the biggest orthodox cathedral in Western Europe, the Uspenski Cathedral belongs to one of my main private tours, as a walking tour. Another example is Finland during the Cold War with a visit to the Kekkonen museum Tamminiemi. The high light of the late president Kekkonen was him being host of the European Conference for Security and Cooperation in 1975. Historians say now that this was the first step towards the end of the Cold War and that the Helsinki -document was significant thus it was for the first time that the right to "human rights" was mentioned and signed by all heads of state, the Soviet Union, The United States of America as well as the former German Democratic Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany. I have the motto that being a guide is a matter of being curious and always wanting to learn new things! Let me know more about what you are interested in!
