Welcome to Helsinki and Porvoo
With nearly thirty years of guiding experience all over the world, it is my pleasure showing you the biggest city of Finland and the capital of the country of the happiest people in the world. Born and raised in the countryside of Porvoo, my passion is history and nature and I will show you some unique parts of Helsinki by foot with focus on parks and the green areas. The old town of Porvoo is the second oldest town in Finland and it is a gem with its cobbled stone narrow streets and small wooden houses. Seeing the town on foot is by far the best way to experience it. I am in addition an Authorized Porvoo Guide Having lived and worked nearly twenty five years abroad, I look at Finland with curious eyes and have a good perspective of the changes and innovations that have taken place during the last two decades. I have been guiding in Helsinki for fifteen years now. Besides the city centre, I do tours in the Suomenlinna Sea Fortress and on the nearby island Vallisaari. I have a strong academic background. My main areas of interest include the 19th century history of Finland and the relation between Finland and Germany. I am a native of Helsinki and I would be happy to show you some lesser-known parts of the city. At the moment, I do tours in English and in Finnish, but in the future, I aim to do tours also in German (my German is rather fluent at the moment).
